This is a general course targeting participants with basic knowledge of qualitative research required.

NVivo 10 is a software package for analysis of qualitative data, such as transcripts of in-depth interviews, focus groups and field notes. Participants will also learn how to use NVivo10 in QDA. At the end of the course, participants will be able to plan, conduct, and critically assess the quality of QDA in their own and other people's research. This course aims to provide participants with strategic understanding and applied skills in planning, conducting, and reporting the process of qualitative data analysis (QDA) in a research projects. If you are planning to conduct interviews or focus groups for your data collection, or perhaps do participant observation during key events or meetings or you will be collecting policy papers, press articles, or Internet data from online survey tools like Survey Monkey, Fluid Surveys and Survey Wizard, blogs, Facebook or Twitter, soon or later you will be faced with piles of data and field notes you collected for analysis. Many researchers these days collect their data through a mixture of quantitative and qualitative (open ended) responses. Venue : Indepth Research Training Centre, Nairobi, Westlands. Training Course on Qualitative Data Management and Analysis with NVIVO (Concept & Approaches) Explore: Run a word frequency query and create a word cloud, then create a simple chart showing opinions on an issue.Event.Organize: A first look at how to code, note-keeping options, how to create cases (the units of analysis) and give them attributes (descriptive information).

Intro & Import: A general overview of what NVivo does, and how to import data.In any project you'll always need to import data first, but how you proceed then is up to you-probably a back-and-forth combination of organizing your data by coding it and taking notes, and exploring it by running queries and visualizing different aspects.

Once you've got the basics, 43 YouTube videos in Getting Started with NVivo will develop your NVivo skills further. Three tutorials in this section are designed to get new users working in NVivo as quickly as possible.
